Furth was a member of the United States track and field team at the 1932 Los Angeles Olympics, and competed in the hop, step, and jump event (triple jump). He finished sixth (out of sixteen) with a distance of 14.88-meters (48'10") and was the top American finisher in the event.

Career Highlights:
Nicknamed "Happy," Furth was an outstanding in the hurdles, triple jump, and long jump although he was only 5'7". In 1931, he established a world indoor record in the 70-yard low hurdles with a time of 8.0. He later became the track coach at Brooklyn College.
