Halfin, a member of the Israeli wrestling team at the 1972 Munich Olympics, competed in the lightweight division. After defeating his Hungarian opponent in his first match, he was eliminated from the competition in the second round by an Indian wrestler. On September 5, Halfin was one of 11 Israeli athletes and coaches killed by Arab terrorists after being taken hostage the previous day. He was only 28 years old.

Career Highlights:
An outstanding lightweight freestyle wrestler, Halfin competed for 11 years in the Soviet Union before emigrating to Israel (he finished fourth in the Soviet national youth championships). A member of the Israeli National team and Hapoel Tel Aviv, he also finished 12th at the World Championships.
