Olympic Info:
Elek was a member of Hungary's women's fencing team at two Olympiads. At the 1948 London Games, Margit competed in the individual foil competition and won her preliminary group by defeating five of her six opponents. She made it to the final pool, but finished in sixth place.

Elek then competed at the 1952 Helsinki Games and finished second in her first-round pool in the individual foil with three wins. In the second round, she was eliminated from the competition after winning only one match.

Career Highlights:
The sister of Ilona Scharerer-Elek (considered one of the greatest female fencers in history), Margit was a member of Hungary's world championship fencing team in 1933-1935, 1937, and 1952-1955. Elek was also a terrific indiviual fencer, winning the silver medal at the 1934 World Championships (her sister Ilona won the gold medal).
