In 1905, as a member of the Meteors, a team in the Chicago YMCA League, Harris made a trip to the West Coast for a series of games. He later played both football and basketball at the University of Chicago.

Career Highlights:
Harris played at the University of Chicago and was a member of the 1908 team that went undefeated (21-2) and won the Helms National Championship. A computerized rating system later ranked them No. 7 among teams in the first decade of the twentieth century; there were no official polls until the late 1940s. In 1909, Harris coached the Indiana basketball team to a record of 6-8.
