A welterweight, Kapilow began his career in 1941 and three years later, in October 1944, he fought the formidable Tony Graziano to a 10-round no decision. The following year, he fought former world lightweight champion Sammy Angott twice, but lost both bouts on decisions. In 1946, Kapilow fought another former lightweight champion, Beau Jack, and lost another 10-round decision. The final big fight of his career came in February 1947 when he fought future welterweight champion Johnny Bratton; Kapilow lost a 10-round decision and retired the following year.
