Golden was ranked in the U.S. top ten in 1953, 1956, and 1957. In 1953, Grant was ranked No. 2 in doubles. That year, he competed in the Maccabiah Games and captured three gold medals in the men's singles (over South African Sid Levy), the men's doubles with partner Pablo Eisenberg, and the mixed doubles with partner Anita Kanter.
