Averbukh wins silver medal in pole vault at the World Track and Field Championships.

Alex Averbukh, who in 1999 became the first-ever Israeli to medal at the World Championships (he won the bronze), followed up by winning the silver medal at the 2001 World Championships with a height of 5.85-meters. It is the highest finish by an Israeli athlete at the Worlds.
