Helfand, a good-fielding, weak-hitting catcher who bats from the left side, played sparingly for the Oakland A's from 1993-1995. In his final season with the A's, he caught 36 games and committed only 1 error for a stellar .994 fielding percentage. Eric only hit .163, though, with 2 doubles, 1 triple, and 7 RBIs in 86 at-bats. After becoming a minor league free agent, he played in the Cleveland Indians and San Diego Padres organizations.
