At the 1932 Los Angeles Olympics, Winter competed in both the discus throw and shot put as a member of the French track and field team. In the discus, Winter won the bronze medal with a throw of 47.85-meters (157'0"), only 0.11-meters ahead of the fourth-place competitor. He was not as successful in the shot put, finishing in 13th place with a distance of 13.14-meters (43'1-1/4").

Career Highlights:
Winter was the French record holder in the discus (166'4-1/2") during the 1930s. In 1934, he finished second at the European Championships.
