Fried returned to the Olympics in 1960, competing in two events at the Rome Games. In the K1 500-meter, she finished third in her preliminary heat with a time of 2:17.39. In the semifinals, Klara finished second in her heat with a time of 2:15.51. Fried reached the final, but failed to medal, finishing in fifth place with a time of 2:14.02, almost four seconds behind the bronze-medalist.
Fried also competed in the K2 500-meter at the 1960 Games. In the preliminary heat, Fried and partner Vilma Egresi finished third with a time of 2:01.86. The Hungarians automatically advanced to the final, where they won the bronze medal with a time of 1:58.22.
