Pierce was a member of the Canadian track and field team at the 1924 Paris Olympics and competed in the 110-meter hurdles. In his preliminary heat, he finished in third place and did not advance to the next round.

Career Highlights:
In the early 1920s, Pierce was a football player at McGill University when he tried hurdling. In 1923, after only three months of competition, he won both the Canadian National high hurdles and collegiate high hurdles championships. The following year, he won the high and low hurdles college titles, setting records in both events.

Following his athletic career, Pierce entered goverment service and later became the Canadian Ambassador to Mexico, Brazil, and Belgium, and the Minister to the United States and Luxembourg. He was also Deputy High Commissioner to the U.K.
