A freestyle swimmer for the Hungarian team at the 1908 London Olympics, Munk competed in two events, the 100-meter individual freestyle and the 4x200-meter freestyle relay. Munk was eliminated in the 100-meter after finishing third in his preliminary heat. In the relay, however, he became the sixth youngest medalist of the Games (17 years, 237 days) when the Hungarians captured the silver. Munk, who was the lead swimmer, had a four-yard lead when he touched the wall. Hungary's second leg, Imre Zachar extended the lead to eight-yards, but their teammates could not hold it and Hungary (10:59.0) finished second to Great Britain (10:55.6).
