Kushnir was a member of the Soviet Union's volleyball team at the 1976 Montreal Olympics. During the competition, the Soviets defeated South Korea (3-1), Cuba (3-1), and East Germany (3-2) in their preliminary group to advance to the semifinals. They went on to defeat Hungary (3-0) to reach the final match, where they lost in straight sets to Japan (7-15, 8-15, 2-15) and were awarded the silver medal. One of Kushnir's teammates was Larysa Bergen.

Career Highlights:
Kushnir was a member of the Soviet Union's gold medal-winning women's volleyball team at the 1971 European Championships.
