Fish was a member of the United States rowing team at the 1988 Seoul Olympics and competed in the coxed pairs event with partners Robert Espeseth and Dan Lyons. Fish, a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania (class of '84), was a member of the U.S. National Rowing Team for a decade and participated in three World Championships; in 1982, he finished sixth in the coxed pairs competition, in 1983, he finished twelfth in the same event, and in 1985, his eights team finished in second place. Fish also was a member of the gold medal eights team at the 1986 Goodwill Games and won a silver in the coxed fours at the 1991 Pan American Games. In 1993, Jon was elected to the Board of Directors of the U.S. Olympic Committee.
