A member of the Israeli Olympic wrestling team (Greco-Roman) at the 1972 Munich Games, Slavin was one of 11 Israeli athletes and coaches killed by Arab terrorists during the Games. Only 18 years old, he had emigrated to Israel four months before the Olympics. The Israelis were taken hostage on September 4 and Slavin was killed the next day. He had been scheduled to make his Olympic debut on September 6.

Career Highlights:
In February 1972, only months before he emigrated to Israel from the Soviet Union, Slavin won the National Greco-Roman championship. After arriving in Israel in May of that year, he joined Hapoel Tel Aviv and made the Israeli Olympic team.
