Hesz returned to the Mexico City Olympics four years later, and again competed in the K1 1000-meter event. This time, Hesz won the gold medal with a time of 4:02.63, 0.95 seconds ahead of the second place finisher.
Career Highlights:
One of the best kayakers in the world in the 1960s and early 1970s, Hesz won the bronze medal in the K1 500-meter at the 1971 World Championships.
