Frank was a member of the Hungarian 4x100-meter freestyle relay team at both the 1960 and 1964 Olympics. At the 1960 Rome Games, the Hungarians finished second in their preliminary heat (4:22.3) and advanced to the final. In the final, Frank and her teammates finished in fourth place. Maria returned to the Olympics four years later at the Tokyo Games and the Hungarian team finished exactly the same as they had in Rome. After coming in second in their preliminary heat (4:13.4), Frank and her teammates again finished fourth in the final with a time of 4:12.1, only 0.1 seconds behind the bronze medal-winning Netherlands team.

Career Highlights:
Frank was the Hungarian National champion in the 100-meter freestyle in 1958 (1:07.5) and 1959 (1:06.5). She also won the Hungarian championship in the 300-meter freestyle in 1958 (5:20.7).
