In the 100-meter, she finished sixth in her preliminary heat with a time of 12.30 and just missed qualifying for the next round by .04 seconds. In the long jump, she again just missed advancing past the first round with a jump of 6.07-meters (19'11"). This placed her seventh in her preliminary group and she missed moving on by just 0.12-meters.

As of July 2002, she held the Israeli indoor long jump record (6.13 meters), and was second all-time in the outdoor long jump (6.27 meters). Maya, who attended Northern Arizona University, also holds the school record of outdoor long jump at 20'6" (6.10 meters).
