Nir was a member of Israel's swimming team at the 1968 Mexico City Olympics, competing in two breaststroke events. In the 100-meter event, she finished third in her preliminary heat with a time of 1:20.9 and advanced to the semifinals, but was then eliminated from the competition. In the 200-meter breaststroke, Nir finished fifth in her preliminary heat (2:58.6) and did not advance to the next round.

Nir returned to the Olympics four years later at the Munich Games and competed in the 200-meter breaststroke. She finished sixth in her preliminary heat (2:53.60), and did not advance to the final.

Career Highlights:
Voted one of Israel's top 50 athletes in the country's history in 1997, Nir is currently the Director of the Unit for the Advancement of Women in Sport in the Ministry of Education, Culture, and Sport.
