Israel's best middle-distance runner in the 1960s, Pantillat competed in two events at the 1960 Rome Olympics. In the 800-meter, he finished fifth in his preliminary heat with a time of 1:54.6 (a new Israeli record), and did not advance to the semifinals. Pantillat also ran in the 1500-meter and placed 12th in his semifinal heat (there were no preliminaries) with a time of 3:59.8 (setting another national record), but did not advance to the finals.

Pantillat was the first Israeli to run 800-meters in less than 1:55 (1:54.7), and the 1500-meter race in less than 4 minutes (3:59.8). He still has the tenth fastest 800-meter individual time in Israel's history (1:51.3), set in 1967. He was named Israel's Sportsman of the Year in 1960.
