Blanche Schachter
Schachter played in the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League, vividly recalled in the 1992 movie A League of Their Own. Blanche was a catcher for the Kenosha Comets in 1949.

Schachter was born into an Orthodox family in Brooklyn, where she originally participated in sports at her synagogue. According to the The Big Book of Jewish Baseball, she heard of tryouts for the AAGBL and asked her mother if she should go; he mother replied, 'Blanche, go.' A catcher, Schachter played in nine games for Kenosha in 1949 before tearing cartilage in her right knee. The Kenosha outfit finished fourth that year, in a league of eight with a 56-55 record. After her playing days, Schachter coached high school sports.
