Abraham Barbanell

Barbanell played for City College of New York in the late 1900s in the early years of the school's basketball program. After graduating, he became a physical education teacher for the New York City schools.

Career Highlights:
A forward at City College, Barbanell's first season with the team was in 1906-07 when they finished with a record of 8-1. Considered one of the top teams in the nation, the Beavers outscored their opponents 267-132, including a 61-7 thrashing of Stevens - Barbanell scored seven points in the victory. Their only loss that season was to Fordham, 22-13. The following season, the Beavers finished with a record of 9-2 (outscoring their opponents 398-196), and then Barbanell completed his college career in 1909 as CCNY went 8-3.
