Considered one the best college players in the state of Virginia during the first half of the 20th Century, Pinck was named first-team All-State each of his three varsity seasons at Washington and Lee (1939-41). A forward, he was also the team’s leading scorer every year he played.

Considered one the best college players in the state of Virginia during the first half of the 20th Century, Pinck was named first-team All-State each of his three varsity seasons at Washington and Lee (1939-41). A forward, he was also the team’s leading scorer every year he played.
In 1939, Pinck was one of four sophomores in the starting line-up (with one junior -- no seniors ) and he led the Generals to a second place finish in the Southern Conference with a 8-3 record (14-7 overall). During the season, he scored 34 points against Richmond in a Southern Conference game (a school record until 1951) and led the team in scoring with 308 points, setting a conference record.
Dick was named All-Southern Conference in 1939 and 1940. In Pinck's senior season (1941), Washington and Lee finished fourth in the conference with a 9-4 record (they were 11-11 overall).
