Larry "Tex" Silverman
Lawrence Silverman
Silverman was a terrific guard for the George Washington Colonials in the early 1950s. Other members of the GW Hall of Fame include legendary Boston Celtics coach Red Auerbach (who played his college ball at GW), and Jon Feldman, who starred in the early 1960s. Silverman, Auerbach, and Feldman were all selected to the George Washington All-Century basketball team in 2001. Tex is a member of George Washington’s Athletic Hall of Fame and All-Century team.

Career Highlights:
At 6 – 3 – , Silverman was a tall guard for George Washington in the early 1950s, leading the Colonials to a three-year record of 41-27 during his varsity career. Named third team All-Southern Conference in 1952 as a junior, Tex was also the team captain that year and was named team MVP. The following season, he repeated as team captain and the Colonials went 15-7 overall. Although he was drafted by the Rochester Royals of the NBA following his college career, Silverman never did turn pro.
