Sharon is an effective point-guard of the classic sort. She says, “I prefer to create then to shot. When I pass, I feel at one with the ball.” The Israeli played at Duquesne University, and holds the school record in assists. Shiri is also a starter on the Israeli national team.

Sharon admits that the security situation in Israel affects her play: "Being here, it's almost like it's more stressful. I'm more aware of it. The things that could happen. The phone calls home to see if everyone is all right. I could freak out."

Career Highlights:
Shiri was recognized as a top prospect at a very early age, and represented Israel from the under-16 level and onwards. Played her debut season for Elitzur Ramle in the 1999-2000 season, while still in the Israeli army. Ramle won the championship as Sharon proved a useful guard coming off the bench.

The Israeli guard was immediately picked as a starter in her freshman season at Duquesne. She averaged 8.5 points, 4.4 assists and 2.2 steals per game in the 2000-01 season. Shiri led the team in three-point goals made, assists and steals. She was named A-10 Rookie of the Week twice and made the 2001 Atlantic 10 All-Rookie selection.

Shiri’s sophomore season (2001-02), was impeded by a slight injury, but was outstanding nonetheless. She ranked #10 in the NCAA in assists per game for the season while averaging 9.8 points, 6.6 assists and 3.9 rebounds per game. In her second career double-double against Robert Morris she dished out 11 assists while scoring 12 points and taking 9 rebounds. She enjoyed another great performance withe 11 assists at Dayton where she recorded her 500th point and 300th assist. The team was mediocre on the whole, going 15-14 overall.

Sharon got over her injury in her junior year of 2002-03 and started each of the Dukes’ 29 games. She averaged 7.7 points, 6.6 assists and 3.2 rebounds per game and led Duquesne to a 16-13 record. As usual, Shiri led the team in both steals and assists while ranking third in points. She made the Director of Athletics’ and A-10 Commissioner’s Honor Rolls at the seasons end.

In 2003-04, Shiri played out her final year at Duquesne as she averaged 8.8 points and 5.5 assists per game. However, the team was mediocre once again with a 16-13 record although Candace Futrell stood out. Sharon will probably seek her future in the Israeli professional league next year.
