Milton Perkel

Perkel was an outstanding forward at Brooklyn College in the 1930s and one of the top scorers in the New York Metropolitan area in 1935-36 and 1936-37. After his playing career, Perkel lived on Long Island and became an assistant principle at P.S. 158 in Brooklyn.

Career Highlights:
Perkel played four seasons of varsity basketball at Brooklyn College in the mid-1930s and as a freshman in 1933-34, appeared in ten games and scored 31 points. The following season as a sophomore, he led the team in scoring with 149 points in 21 games (he finished 11th in the Metropolitan area in scoring).

In 1936, Perkel finished the season as the second highest scorer in the New York Metropolitan area with 260 points (four points behind top scorer Julie Bender of Long Island University). That year, he led Brooklyn College to the New York Metropolitan AAU championship with a 24-18 victory over Crescent Athletic Club. In the National AAU tournament, Brooklyn lost to Denver University, 45-40 as Perkel scored eight points.

The following season, Perkel finished fourth in the Met area in scoring with 171 points as Brooklyn finished the season with a record of 11-8. They reached the Metropolitan AAU semifinals, where they lost to CCNY.
