David Morris Miller

Miller played basketball at the University of Richmond in the 1920s and was the team's leading scorer as a sophomore in 1923-24. He also played quarterback on the football team and captained both the football and basketball team as a senior.

Career Highlights:
Miller was a four-year starter at guard at the University of Richmond, including his freshman season in 1922-23. That year, he averaged 4.5 as the Spiders finished with a record of 9-4 (Miller was the only freshman starter). The follwing year, Miller was the team's leading scorer that year, finishing with 180 points (75 field goals and 30 free throws) in 19 games for a 9.5 average. He was named first team All-State and helped the Spiders finish the season with a record of 14-5 (7-2 in the Virginia Conference - the first year Richmond played in the conference).

Miller was named captain of the basketball team during his junior season in 1924-25 and averaged 7.3 points per game as the Spiders finished 13-4 (8-1 in conference). He then repeated as captain as a senior when Richmond went 16-6 (9-1 in conference) and averaged 3.4 points per game. Miller played two more season at Richmond and helped them finish 13-4 in 1924-25 and then 16-6 during his senior season in 1925-26.
