A tattooed forward in his senior year at Tennessee Tech, Jacobson is a defensive asset with good outside shooting abilities. The big man is in his second year at the school, having played his first two years at Iowa Western Community College. In 2004-05, Jacobson averaged 5.9 points, 3.1 rebounds, and 0.7 assists per game as the Golden Eagles finished with an overall record of 18-11 and the Ohio Valley Conference regular season title (12-14). In the conference tournament, however, Tennessee Tech was upset by fifth-seeded Austin Peay and their hopes for a chance in the NCAA tournament were dashed.

Career Highlights:
Jacobson was a bona fide star at Omaha Central High School. By the time he graduated, the forward was a 1,000 point scorer. In his junior year, Ben tossed in 21 points and owned the glass with 10 rebounds per game. As a senior his already prodigious form was enhanced to a 22 point and 11 rebound average season. Jacobson was all-state team his senior season and was also nominated for the prestigious McDonald's High School All-American Team.

Jacobson was handed a marginal role for Iowa Western Community College in his 2001-02 freshman season. He scored 4.3 points and grabbed 2.8 rebounds per game. In 2002-03, Ben was highly useful for Iowa Western Community College in 2002-03. The forward dropped 12.5 points and took down 7.6 rebounds per game, as the squad went 25-6 overall and ranked 18th in the last national poll.

The big man transferred to Tennessee Tech for his sophomore year in 2003-04 and he finished with 5.6 points and 4.3 rebounds per game. Despite Jacobson's valuable contribution of the bench, the Golden Eagles were 13-15 for the season. Ben enjoyed a commendable performance in his first game of the season against Virginia Intermont with a season high 18 points.
