Sam Kaplan was a sophomore power forward at Yale University during the 2004-05 season and played very well after spending his freshman campaign as a utility forward coming off the bench. This past year, Kaplan averaged 8.3 points (fourth on the team), 3.8 rebounds, and 1.3 assists per game. Yale finished the season with a record of 11-16 (7-7 in the Ivy League).

Career Highlights:
The forward was a standout player at Worcester Academy in his high school days. As a junior he averaged 12 points, eight rebounds and three assists he also averaged eight points and five rebounds in his sophomore year. Sam was a highly prominent senior ringing up 18 points, and tearing down 10 rebounds per game. He won New England Prep School Conference Class A first team selection and was voted conference MVP. Upon graduation, the up and comer was all time leading scorer at Worcester Academy with over 1,000 points. Yale, Princeton and the Holy Cross are just some of the schools Kaplan received offers from.

As a freshman at Yale, Sam was a useful presence on the bench. He started 3 games of a possible 23, since Kaplan missed the rest with a back injury. Scoring 4.4 points and hitting the boards for 2.4 rebounds per game, Kaplan was often used for defensive purposes. Sam's best performance of the season came on February, 14, 2004 against Harvard. Though Harvard won 78-71, Kaplan enjoyed a twelve point performance, hitting four for five from the field. The Bulldogs were 12-15 overall in the 2003-04 season.
