Not to be confused with Hall of Famer Pete "Kid" Herman (a bantamweight), this Herman was a lightweight contender in the 1900s.

Career Highlights:
Herman began his career in 1899 and fought as a lightweight. By the mid-1900s, he had become a contender and faced former featherweight champion Dave Sullivan in Sullivan's final fight on March 13, 1905; Herman knocked out the former champ in the ninth-round. One month later, Herman fought future world welterweight champ Harry Lewis in April 1905; the bout ended in a 15-round draw. Herman's final big bout came two years later when he finally received a title shot. Against world lightweight champ Joe Gans, Herman was knocked out in the eighth-round on January 1, 1907; Herman retired later that year.
