Not to be confused with Jewish Hall of Famer Ted "Kid" Lewis, this Lewis was a South African bantamweight in the early 1920s, and held the national title for nine months.

Career Highlights:
In February 1919, Lewis got a shot at the South African bantamweight title when he faced champ Jack Ellmore in London. Although Kid lost the 20-round decision, he won the rematch in December 1921 when Ellmore was disqualified in the 13th-round. The following year, Lewis lost to South African featherweight champ Billy Allen in June 1922 on a fifth-round technical knockout, but kept the bantamweight title because Allen did not make the weight. Lewis then lost the bantamweight title in September 1922, when he was knocked out by Norm Mulligan in the 17th-round.
