A Venezuelan featherweight and lightweight as a professional, Foldes fought future world super-featherweight champ Cornelius Boza in February 1978 in Kensington, England and lost the bout when he was disqualified in the fifth round. The following year, Carlos faced European featherweight champion Roberto Castanon in a non-title bout and lost an eight-round decision in Spain. Foldes' final big fight was against future British lightweight champion George Feeney. That contest, which took place in Feeney's hometown of Hartlepool, England in September 1981, went the full eight rounds, but Foldes lost the decision.
