Horowitz, Bernard

Horowitz was one of the seven chess experts of Berlin called "The Pleiades" because they were a cluster of seven stars. He settled in England in 1845, becoming a widely known international chess player. Bernard lost to Adolf Anderssen of Germany in 1851 in the first recognized international championship match.
