Ragozin and Botvinnik teamed up to train for the 1944 USSR championship. To more or less simulate the noise that would be present in the tournament hall, they practiced with the radio blasting at high volume. Coming in 14th place out of 17, Ragozin blamed his defeats on the unusual quietness of his surroundings.

Career Highlights:
A high ranking international player for 20 years, Vyacheslav was a trainer and adviser to Mikhail Botvinnik�the former world champion and vice-president of the International Chess Federation.
