Career Highlights:

Boleslavsky was a Russian Chess Master who held the Russian championship several times between 1948 and 1958. He was the three-time winner of the Ukraininan championship between 1938 and 1940.

Boleslavsky was a member of the winning USSR team in the 1952 Chess Olympiad (scoring 7 points out of 18).

He placed second in the challenge round for the right to meet the world's champion.

Boleslavsky's training skills were rated to be "of the highest school of chess". He coached the USSR Olympic teams (1958-70), and was Petrosian's trainer and time-keeper (1959-1969).

By profession, Boleslavsky was a philosopher. He also worked as a chess journalist.

His style of play was considered to be close to the ideal: a combination of strategy, tactics, logic, and imagination.
