In 1936, the Violets had a record of 5-3-1. In 1937, Bloom was named Grantland Rice All-America honorable mention as NYU finished the season with a record of 5-4-0. That year, the star back was called one of the outstanding passers by football historian Dr. L.H. Baker after completing passes of 55, 52, 40 and 30 yards.
