Julius Pike

Pike was a tackle at the University of Maine in the early 1930s and led the Black Bears to back-to-back state titles.

Career Highlights:
Pike played three seasons with Maine in the early 1930s. In 1930, the Black Bears had a record of 3-4-0. The following year, they improved to 4-3-0 and won their final three games over interstate opponents, Bates (9-6), Colby (19-7), and Bowdoin (20-0). Before 1965, the four schools would play each other and the team with the best record was awarded the title, which is how Maine won the Maine State Championship that year.

In 1932, Pike was named team captain and helped lead Maine to its most successful season during his career. The Black Bears shut out four opponents to finish the season with a record of 5-1-1, defeating Bates, Colby, and Bowdoin for the second consecutive year to take the state championship. That year, Pike was named AP All-East honorable mention.
