Abe Shper
A guard at the University of Washington in the 1930s, Shper was awarded the Guy Flaherty medal in 1935. The medal is awarded annually to the player voted "most inspirational" by his teammates, and is considered the top award given to a Washington football player. That same year, Shper was named to the American Jewish World's Jewish All-America team in 1935.

Career Highlights:
Shper played as a guard for two seasons at Washington. In 1934, the Huskies had a record of 6-1-1 and outscore their opponents 104-51; their only loss was to Stanford, 24-0. In 1935, Washington had a record of 5-3-0 and Shper was awarded the Guy Flaherty medal. He was also named United Press (UP) All-Coast honorable mention. Shper then played for the West team in the 1936 East-West Shrine Game. He was an assistant coach for the Huskies in 1937.
