Gary Wichard

Wichard was an All-America quarterback at C.W. Post in 1971 before becoming a sports agent. Among the athletes he has represented are Stoney Case (NFL), Wally Szczerbiak (NBA), and Deion Sanders (NFL).

Career Highlights:
From Huntington, which is located on Long Island, Wichard had an excellent three-year career at C.W. Post (also on Long Island) from 1969-1971. After seasons of 6-4-0 (1969) and 7-3-0 (1970), the Pioneers had a record of 8-3-0 in 1971. That season, Wichard was named All-America after passing for a then-school record 2,287 yards (third most in school history). He was also named the outstanding Division II player by the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) in 1971 and finished his career with 5,373 passing yards, still second in school history.

Considered a bright prospect and possible first round pick in the 1972 NFL Draft, Wichard saw his status drop after the Senior Bowl, where he only played two series - many scouts began to question his conditioning and attitude. Despite Y.A. Tittle stating that Wichard "may have the best arm I have ever seen," he was only drafted in the 16th round of the Draft by the Baltimore Colts and released in preseason. He continued to play semi-pro and hoped to get a second chance, but none came. Eventually, Wichard became a high-profile agent.
