Harvey L. Harris

Harris, who played guard at the University of Chicago in the 1910s under legendary coach Amos Alonzo Stagg, helped his team to an undefeated season in 1913. That year, Harris was named second team All-Western Conference and Coach Stagg called his great player a "finished guard."

In 1911, Harris made his debut on the varsity as Chicago finished the season 6-1-0. The following year, they also finished 6-1-0 and the University of Chicago Magazine wrote of Harris's play following a 7-0 win over Minnesota, "Harris came into his own...upsetting his man with consummate ease and following the ball everywhere."

In 1913, Harris and Chicago had a terrific season. Harvey was named Collier's Magazine All-Western second team (Knute Rockne was also named to the team) as Chicago went undefeated (7-0) and were considered national champions.
