Kurschner, a left halfback, was a member of the Hungarian National team in the late 1900s and early 1910s. According to Andrew Handler in From the Ghetto to the Games, Kurschner was a physically unimpressive man, but on the field was a model of reliability and simplicity. Unlike many of the flashier players in Hungary, he frustrated his opponents with his ability to position himself defensively, his accurate headers, and his determination. He later became a coach.
