Max Scheuer

Scheuer, a left fullback for Hakoah-Vienna in the 1920s, played for the club when they toured the United States in 1926 and 1927. In 1926, the team played ten games in front of a total of 200,000 people, including a single-game record crowd of 46,000 at the Polo Grounds (a record that stood until 1977). The following year, Hakoah returned to the U.S. for another soccer tour and Scheuer was the captain of the team. The soccer team has been inducted into the International Jewish Sports Hall of Fame.

Considered one of the best players on Hakoah-Vienna in the 1920s, Scheuer could play almost any position. He also played in a couple of games for the Austrian National team.
